THEME: “autumn superpowers!

As we settle in to autumn, we can use this time to remember our inner strength and superpowers to see us through! Let’s focus on opening the hips; the area of the body that is said to be the emotional store center. This can allow us to access, and let go of any negative or stagnant feelings that don’t serve us.

We can also connect to the beautiful colours around us and see how nature is letting go of what it doesn't need. Bringing some movement into the day can help us feel settled into this time and feel calm within our changing surroundings. 

Enjoy bringing this theme into your classrooms and as always, take what you need and leave what doesn’t serve you! 


“THE LEAVES ARE FALLING”

Time: 10 minutes

When to practice: TO BREATHE IN LIGHT, STRENGTH, WARMTH AND FREEDOM!

“As the leaves fall around us, we can learn to let go of what we don't need or want. Imagine you are on the top of a tree, the leaves falling all around you... When you are ready, you let go of the tree and whoosshh you're taken with the wind! This feels a bit scary but also very exciting! Float softly in the wind, you feel so light and free. You can go wherever you want to on this journey!”

YOGA POSES AND MOVEMENT

These poses and movements serve to support a sense of release and relaxation, by opening the hips and allowing us to let go of any stagnant feeling or emotion, while also having fun and remembering our superpowers!

Breathing exercise: “AUTUMN leaf breath

You can use a real leaf for this breath if you can find one! If not, then draw one on some paper. Bring your finger to the end of the leaf and as you breathe in run your finger along it to one tip, hold the breath for a moment, then slowly breathe out as you run your finger down the side, and hold again for a moment. Do this around the entire leaf to feel calm and peaceful.

Use this breath to find calm and connection to nature, while remembering how the leaves change and fall away making way for winter time.
