THEME: “YOUR AUTHENTIC SELF

As we become grounded within the new year, it is important for us to remember to communicate our needs to ourselves and towards each other. After a January of welcoming change and new beginnings, we can easily fall back into old ways and patterns which might not be serving us in the best way. So this month, we will focus on opening the throat energy centre which connects to communication, self-expression, and authenticity. 

Enjoy bringing this theme into your daily life this month and as always, take what you need and leave what doesn’t serve you! 


“being true to your authentic self” MEDITATION

Time: 11 minutes

When to practice: FOR WHEN YOU NEED TO GROUND YOURSELF AND BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!

Get comfortable...Close the eyes... Find softness in the breath and relax the whole body. You are completely welcome here as you are. Let go of anything you are holding that might be weighing you down. Think about what is important to you, what do you value the most? Reflect on what means the most to you in your everyday life. Your values and what you regard as important is what makes you who you are. Do you value time to yourself, with family and friends, perhaps what you value most is self-care, being honest, showing kindness, making strong connections with those around you, new experiences, a healthy lifestyle, love, support...


YOGA STRETCHES TO OPEN THE THROAT

These gentle stretches serve to open the throat, while allowing you to rest, and invite calm into the moment.

Breathing exercise: “LION’S BREATH

This breathing technique is believed to support the throat chakra by easing stress, getting rid of toxins and stimulating the throat and chest area. Sit comfortably, resting your hands on your lap. Inhale through your nose, and then open your mouth stick out your tongue to an audible ‘ahhhh’ as you exhale out of your mouth.  This is a really fun exercise to do with the children in your classroom too!
