THEME: STILLNESS AND PEACE

“LET’S FIND A MOMENT OF STILLNESS”

With everything going on, it’s important to find a moment or two in our day to be still, to find a sense of inner peace and let go of all of the demands, responsibilities and worries that cloud our minds and our ability to be present.

There is so much pressure on you right now, and the overwhelming feelings you could be experiencing as a result of the state of the world only makes things heavier. When stress is heightened like this, it’s not sustainable to try and brush it aside and wish for it to go away. Rather, it’s important to pause and rein things in, to be still, find a sense of inner peace and release stressors.

This "Stillness & Peace" program aims to help you do this! Enjoy exploring the breath, the meditation, yoga poses, activities and music (on the website), all here to draw in a sense of peace when everything feels a little too much.

You are strong and you got this!

GUIDED MEDITATION

Watch the short explainer video by Jen, that describes how to settle in with a meditation.

MEDITATION: WARMING LIGHT

This month is centred upon finding those moments of stillness and peace within the day. When everything is getting a little too much, find a moment to pause, to replenish, to give back to yourself, even if just for a few moments.

Time: 11 minutes

When to practice: when you need a moment of peace and stillness.

This meditation will have you visualising a warm light filling your body. See this light, its colour and warmth gently filling you with a sense of calm and peace. Taking each breath in and each breath out slowly and calmly, always feeling this warmth and positive light.

There is nowhere else you have to be, nothing else to do. Just be here with your body in stillness, and start to slow down your breath.

Grab a blanket and get cosy. You can do anytime yourself, or with your family members too.

Simply click on the video and settle in.

We are here for you, for them.

yoga poses and movement

This month there is one mini flow consisting of three poses which are here to help you find peace and stillness in your body and mind. We are focusing on opening our hips and finding your way to pigeon pose, a very restorative pose. Also, we have upper body circles which we can practice for 2 minutes in each direction, awakening our digestive systems and finding stillness after the pose.

Breathing exercise: CALMING BREATH

Take a slow deep breath in through your nose, filling your lower lungs then upper lungs, then retain your breath in for three seconds. Begin to part your lips and softly breathe out of the mouth. Finding a moment of stillness while holding the breath in, and a sense of peace within your day.

Repeat as many times as needed.

PEACEFUL MANTRA

“I give myself permission to be here. I give myself permission to be still. I give myself permission to be at peace.”

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

PUT YOURSELF IN A TIME-OUT AND DO NOTHING!

Do nothing! We are doubling-down on this activity recommendation as it’s important during these times. At certain times this month we really need time to just chill and breathe. Begin to feel ok with slowing down and sometimes doing nothing. Notice how you feel after allowing this time for yourself.

TASTE YOUR FOOD

It sounds obvious, but when we are distracted with tv, our phone, conversation, or if our minds are racing, sometimes we forget to take our time to really taste our food. Taking your time with eating also helps with your health, and keeping you in the present moment.

ADD “STILLNESS TIME” INTO YOUR SCHEDULE

Put aside time for yourself to be alone and quiet. If you are at home with family, let them know you need 15 minutes to yourself. This could be having lunch on your own, or taking a little walk and noticing what you see along the way. No matter how big or small, bring some peace into your day and honour yourself with this quiet time.

SELF-CARE music
