THEME: “WELCOMING CHANGE”

We are still going through some particularly challenging times, and can feel pressure to adapt to the changes with ease, which is easier said than done.

It is easy to think about the negative things that have resulted from this recent time, but we can also think about the positive things too. The seasons are shifting, which provides a great opportunity for us to be grateful for all that we have come through and achieved not just in recent days but years too. There are certain things we cannot control, but one thing we can control is our mindset. So let’s move through the future days, weeks and months with an open heart and a positive mind.

It is important that we do this not only for us, but also for the little ones around us. Teaching them to open their hearts to change can benefit them too!

Let’s remember we are all in this together and we are here to help support each other, and ourselves, through this shifting time.

GUIDED MEDITATION

Watch the short explainer video by Jen, that describes how to settle in with a meditation.

MEDITATION: MAGICAL FOREST OF CHANGE

This month is centred upon shifting with these changing times and seasons. This is a time for us to check in with ourselves, appreciate how far we have come, and set intentions for the coming days and weeks ahead of us.

Time: 8.5 minutes

When to practice: when you need a moment TO REFOCUS AND SET INTENTIONS

“Now before we think about what we could do a little more of.. take a moment in stillness to be thankful for all that you are, as you lay in peace on the magical forest floor. Know how special you are and remember to say thank you to yourself for just being you. Let’s practice a magical mantra. Start by putting both of your hands on your heart and tell yourself yourself, ‘Today I will learn and grow.’ ’My heart is open to change.’ ’I can and I will’.”

There is nowhere else you have to be, nothing else to do. Just be here with your body in stillness, and start to slow down your breath. Remember to welcome change into your heart always, but not forget how special and magical you are, just the way you are!

Grab a blanket and get cosy. Simply click on the video and settle in.

yoga poses and movement

This months yoga practice serves to open the heart space, and welcome in change with a sense of calm and acceptance. Take each pose slowly and with care, remembering to use the breath to softly move into the poses. It might also aid your practice to put on some relaxing music from this months pack.

Breathing exercise: BREATHE INTO THE HEART

This breathing technique serves to open our hearts by breathing into it. Find a comfortable seat, maybe in “Neat and Tidy Pose,” and close your eyes. Place one hand on your heart, and the other hand on top of the first. Start to breathe nice and slowly, directing the breath to the heart space as you breath into the nose and out of the mouth. Feel the heart open and visualize the warm healing air fill it up.

Repeat this as many times as you need.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

LET’S LEARN ABOUT AUTUMN

The seasons are shifting! What do we love and enjoy about autumn? Just like the leaves fall from the trees, we will shed some leaves too. That’s ok! Because it means we will experience new growth.

What do you notice about the leaves outside? What colours are they? How do they smell? What other new plants, nuts and seeds do you notice? How do the warm colours make you feel? This mindful practice can help bring calm to our hearts during the changes.

SINGING BOWL

Practice tuning your ears and pausing in silence with the singing bowl sound. Ring the bowl (or can use a bell too) and when you can’t hear the sound anymore put your finger on your nose! In the music section, there is also a video with the sound of a singing bowl that you can use as an option too.

MAKE A NATURE MANDALA

Connect with nature by creating your mandala with flowers, leaves and petals. Watch them eventually wilt away, but morph into something new which is just as magical! This can help us to teach children that things do alter and change, which can help with feelings of sadness or anxiety.

Pause Button

Imagine pressing your big PAUSE button! Say “Pause!” and check in with how everyone is feeling in that moment. Children can respond with thumbs up, down or neutral and/or talk about how they’re feeling.

RELAXING BACKGROUND MUSIC

Our recommendations this month for positive affirmation and when you need a boost!
