THEME: “the power of letting go

As we settle into the comforts of autumn, this theme will focus on releasing what weighs us down and finding our inner power by opening up the hips; the area of the body that is said to be the emotional store center. This can allow us to let go of any negative or stagnant feelings that don't serve us. We can follow along with what nature around us is doing, naturally shedding, releasing, and settling into the new season, while finding a sense of lightness and calm within the body and mind.

Enjoy bringing this theme into your daily life and as always, take what you need and leave what doesn’t serve you!

Time: 14 minutes

When to practice: WHEN YOU NEED TO release negative energy and thoughts

"Relax your body and sink into the earth below. As you soften the face and body, feel yourself melt into the earth. Let go of any tension you're holding physically, in the abdomen, the heart, and let go of weight on the shoulders. You are held here... Begin to slow down your breath... Let go of thoughts in the mind, and focus on the breath... Soften, lengthen, relax.... Now ask yourself the question, "What can I let go of right now?"....”

RESTORATIVE YOGA POSES to help release tension

These poses and movements serve to open the hips, and allow you to release tension and relax when needed throughout the month.

Breathing exercise: “left nostril breathing

Breathing through the left nostril is connected to the right hemisphere of the brain which activates the parasympathetic nervous system, helping to induce a state of relaxation. 

Sit up tall, close your right nostril with your right thumb and take a slow deep breath into the left nostril, filling the lungs and diaphragm, then slowly exhale out of the left nostril. Repeat this 8-10 times, or for as long as needed.
