THEME: “welcoming joy

Joy and bliss are two natural states of being, and are happy emotions that contribute to our well-being. We all have joy within our hearts and minds, we just need to find ways to access it! Mindfulness is one great way of uncovering our inner joy by helping to reduce our stress levels at the same time. It is also important for us to be able to find joy within ourselves, within our every day, without reliance on others or the need for positive reinforcement from another.

It has been proven that the happiness emotion can help lower the heart rate, reduce blood pressure, boost immunity and elongate our lives! Therefore the more we welcome happiness and joy into our day, the greater we will feel!

Happiness is of course of great importance for the little ones around us, and their healthy development. Kindness, care, responsiveness and movement are all ways to support a little one’s well-being and happiness. So utilise this months program to draw some joy and bliss into the every day, and as always, take what you and your little ones need, and leave what doesn’t serve you.

“BASKET OF JOY” MEDITATION

Basket of Joy Infant Meditation Thumbnail.png

Time: 11 minutes

When to practice: WHEN you need to invite joy into your day!

Remember all the things you can be joyful for…

The sunshine, our friends, our family, warmth, and safety.

Our joy is always within our hearts, we just have to remind ourselves how to find it!

Find a comfy position, laying down on your back. Maybe you can put on your favourite jumper or cosy socks, and even place a blanket over your eyes. Wherever you are, allow your body to become floppy, just like spaghetti! Now once you are ready, let your eyes completely close.

We are here for you, for them.

YOGA POSES

This months yoga poses are here to bring some fun movement and silly smiles into your day!

(FOLLOW ALONG WITH JEN IN THE VIDEOs BELOW.)

Breathing exercise: “LION’S BREATH”

Let’s stand with our feet nice and wide apart, take a nice breath in as we reach our arms over our heads. Then as we breathe out we bend our knees and arms, make claws with our hands, stick out our tongues, and go ‘haaaaa’ like a roaring lion! Let’s do it two more times, really letting go of hot, bubbly feelings and making space for joy and happiness to fill our hearts. You can also do this pose while holding onto a little one instead (or practice it side by side!).

Repeat this as many times as you need.
