THEME: “SOFTNESS AND SENSES

Sometimes taking a moment to reconnect and find softness is all we, and the little ones around us, need. The power of taking even just one minute to re-centre ourselves can aid our ability to relax our bodies and minds, and move forward with the task or day at hand.

This month’s program is all about grounding and finding softness through connecting to our senses. We can help the little ones connect to the practice through visual aids, sounds and touch, always keeping this sense of softness throughout.

Remember to pause this month, take a moment to nurture yourself and the little ones around you, and as always take what you need from the program and leave what doesn’t serve you.

MEDITATION: “5 SENSES MEDITATION”

Time: 11 minutes

When to practice: WHEN YOU NEED TO FEEL GROUNDED AND WELCOME SOFTNESS INTO THE MOMENT

This meditation serve to help us feel grounded and find softness within the moment.

Grab a blanket and get cosy. You can do this any time you need to bring some calm into the classroom, or with your family members at home too. Simply click on the audio link and settle in.

We are here for you, for them.

CALMING MINDFUL MOMENTS

These poses are here to provide a moment of calm for you and the little ones in your classroom.

Breathing exercise: “Ahhh” “Ohhhh” “mmmm” breath

This is a lovely grounding breathing technique which connects sound, movement and breath all together at once! A lovely one to get the little ones to calm and re-focus, while also doing the same for you too. Breathe in as you reach your arms over your head, then breathing out as you press your fingers together to an ‘Aaaa’ sound, then bring your arms to a circle in-front of you to an ‘ohh’ sound, then arms to your side with bent elbows to an ’mmm’ sound.

Repeat at least three times. Take your time, there is no rush. Go at your own pace.

MAKING MUSIC!

Why not trying making your own shakers out of old bottles or jars, you can put all sorts of things inside like buttons, pasta, pom poms and so on. Maybe you can all come together before the end of the day or at the start of the day and switch on your ears by shaking your homemade shakers and saying hello or goodbye. You can do this with the happy music from this months program too!

THE CALM FEATHER

The feather can help to represent calm and comfort. If a little one is showing signs of distress or upset, perhaps take out the “Calm Feather” from your pocket and sweep it gently over their palm as you take a big relaxing breath in and a big breath out.

CLASSROOM MUSIC

Our recommendations this month in line with the theme of our senses.
