THEME: STILLNESS AND PEACE

“LET’S FIND A MOMENT OF STILLNESS”

Sometimes we simply need to find a moment in our day to be still, to find a sense of inner peace and let go of all of the demands, responsibilities and worries that cloud our minds and our ability to be present.

Enjoy the next 30 days exploring the breath, meditation, and yoga poses, all here to draw in a sense of peace when everything feels a little too much.

There is so much pressure on you and your family right now, and the fear and anxiety you are likely feeling as a result of the state of the world only makes things heavier. When stress is heightened like this, it’s not sustainable to try and brush it aside and wish for it to go away. Rather, it’s important to pause and rein things in, be still, and find a sense of inner peace. This is vital not just for you, but for your loved ones around you too.

This “Stillness & Peace” program is here to help you draw in a sense of peace when everything feels like a little too much. You are strong and you got this!

GUIDED MEDITATION

Watch the short explainer video by Jen, that describes how to settle in with a meditation.

“it’s peaceful by the ocean” meditation

This month is centred upon finding those moments of stillness and peace within the day. When everything is getting a little too much, find a moment to pause, to replenish, to give back to yourself, even if just for a few moments.

Time: 9 minutes

When to practice: WHEN YOU NEED A MOMENT OF STILLNESS

For the next few minutes you will be led through a guided meditation. All you have to do is to listen to the words. Try to stay still and relaxed in the body and mind if you can, but don’t worry if you wiggle or your mind gets a little busy at times. Know you can come back to the words, to the body, and to the breath.

Find a nice comfortable laying down position. Take any pillows or blankets that might make you feel more comfortable (Maybe turn down the lights too!) Make sure you are warm and cosy, and once you’ve made final wriggles and shuffles, then begin to close the eyes. If it helps maybe place a jumper or scarf over your eyes so less light comes through.

So are you ready? Is your body floppy? Let’s begin!

Simply click on the video and settle in. We are here for you, for them.

BREATHING EXERCISE: FIVE FINGER BREATH

Hold up your right hand, place your left index finger on the outer edge of your right little finger. When you breathe in, go up your right little finger tracing it to the top, and as you breathe out, go down the finger. Repeat this for all the fingers and thumb, and take a pause every time you are at the top of a finger, and then the bottom too. Take your time, and enjoy the stillness and peace to help you calm the nervous system when feeling overwhelmed.Repeat as many times as needed.

Watch the video below for guidance from Jen!

PEACEFUL MANTRA

“I am here. I am calm like the ocean. I am at peace.” Follow along with Jen for this mantra that will help soothe any anxious feelings. This is a lovely mantra you can do with your classroom before an activity, or before nap time to help with a calming atmosphere.

yoga poses and movement

These poses are here this month to help bring peace and stillness into your day. Remember to take your time with the poses, practice slowly and with care, and don’t forget to slow down your breath!

sleeping pigeon to baby pigeon

Do you wonder why you never see baby pigeons? That is because they look like adults even when they are young! Shall we be sleepy baby pigeons together? This is a good pose to do before bedtime, or as you are waking up and need a little stretch!

pair of souls in stillness

Laying on backs this is another partner pose, gently pressing into each other’s feet. Take a deep breath in up to your head, and breathe out all the way down through the body into each other’s feet. Breathe here in stillness.

hello sun! hello earth!

Toddlers can follow along and babies can lay down and watch! A moving meditation to help reconnect to the breath and find inner peace.
