THEME: “balanced and grounded

As we enter the Autumn season, let’s settle and ground ourselves. Our root energy centre is connected to our feelings of safety, confidence and acceptance, and is responsible for sense of belonging and foundation. So during the shifting time, this months program serves to open up this chakra and induce a greater feeling of grounding and connection to ourselves and the Earth beneath us.

Enjoy bringing this theme into your daily life this month and as always, take what you need and leave what doesn’t serve you!

“relaxing in the grass”

Time: 12 minutes

When to practice: WHEN YOU NEED TO TAKE A DEEP BREATH AND RELAX

"Imagine walking through a beautiful garden or meadow, hearing sounds of birds, trees, and the breeze… Seeing beautiful colours, a sunrise or sunset…It feels warm here. You find some lush green grass, perhaps in a lovely little tucked away corner, or maybe by a lake… It is surrounded by beautiful smelling flowers… Imagine resting in it….”

Grab a blanket and get cosy. You can do this anytime yourself, with your students, or with your family members too. Simply click on the audio link and settle in.

RESTORATIVE, GROUNDING YOGA POSES

These poses and movements serve to balance and ground ourselves when we need to re-root and re-connect to the earth and to ourselves.

Breathing exercise: “BALANCING BREATH

Try this breath at any moment when you need to release negative thoughts or overwhelming feelings. Take a moment to sit up tall and breathe, even closing your eyes if you’d like. Breathe into your nose for a slow count of 5, and out of your mouth for a slow count of 5. Repeat this breathing at least three times, then notice how the mind and body feels afterwards.  Do as many times during the morning, day or evening as you need!
